If Manchester is the dark heart of modern British music—a city that practically birthed post-punk with bands like Joy Division, The Fall, The Smiths, New Order, Magazine, A Certain Ratio, Section 25, and The Chameleons—then Inca Babies were the city’s most underappreciated, shadow-drenched dark horse. Emerging alongside these giants in the early ’80s, they carved a noir-tinged, restless path that was just as vital, just as haunting, and, remarkably, they’re still standing. With “Reincarnation”, the band proves their legacy is as potent now as it ever was, breathing fresh, dangerous life into their iconic catalogue.

Produced by Simon “Ding” Archer, “Reincarnation” reinvents twelve tracks with precision and menace. Founding vocalist/guitarist Harry Stafford and drummer Rob Haynes lead the charge, with bassist [current member] and guitarist [current member] adding bite and depth to every track. Early highlights like “Candy Mountain,” “Buster’s on Fire,” and “Daniella” sharpen the band’s noir energy, while “Two Rails to Nowhere” and “Phantom Track” push the sound into shadowy new territory. Each reinvention feels alive, urgent, and unmistakably Inca Babies—classic material transformed into something bracingly modern.

The album closes with “Thirst,” “Superior Spectre,” and “Cowboy Song,” each swelling with grit and atmosphere. Older fan favorites like “Devil in My Room” and “Damnation” are refashioned into darker, more potent predators. From their post-punk roots to their alt-rock and darkwave evolution, “Reincarnation” cements Inca Babies as the ultimate survivors: a band that thrived in the shadows, endured the decades, and still commands attention in 2026.
